What is a home group?
A home group is a gathering of about 10 people who meet weekly in a home to explore the Bible under a trained leader. The group members help each other to think through what God is saying. As friendships grow, the group is encouraged to live in the light of the Word.
What do I have to do in the group?
Simply enjoy getting to know others around a discussion about the Bible. A typical meeting will have time for coffee, time for chatting about life, a hearty discussion around the Bible and Christian living, and time for prayer. You simply act as you would in any discussion – listening and contributing where you feel you can. You don’t have to do anything you are not comfortable with.
What is each group member’s responsibility?
Be at all meetings – an erratic attendance will not foster a group dynamic. Of course, there may be times when missing a meeting will be unavoidable – that’s life – just let the leader know so that everyone isn’t kept waiting because they are expecting you.
How long do they run for?
As a rule, there will always be a starting and ending date to each group. In the future, we will be moving to a six-month commitment. When groups re-form, it is quite likely that many will be made up of original members.
What day and time do the groups meet?
Groups meet on Wednesdays, starting around 7pm - 7:30pm, and run for one-and-a-half hours. Exact times will be discussed and finalised by groups themselves. There are no meetings during school holidays.
