This month's Inside Scoop is spotlighting a few of our ministries as well as opportunities to serve.

The CHALLENGERS MINISTRY is a wonderful gospel outreach to mentally and physically handicapped adults.

Approximately 120 folks meet together on a Saturday afternoon for crafts, games, singing, gospel messages and doughnuts! In July we have a dinner dance where the dinner is KFC! Everyone looks forward to our exciting Christmas party in December with a fun magic show and an appearance by Santa bearing gifts!

There is a distinct Christian theme for the afternoon as we use crafts, singing and stories to teach the folks about Jesus and how they can become His children. Our group of 30 willing, friendly helpers desire to also show them Jesus by the way we behave at Challengers. Challengers has been going for 21 years!

Challengers meet every 2nd Saturday from 2-5pm in the DG Mills Hall, St James Church, 114 Third Avenue, Kenilworth.

Mammas & Munchkins Midweek

Mammas & Munchkins Midweek is an opportunity, for those who find themselves in that season of life where they have recently had a newborn, or are dealing with the terrific toddler twos, to study the Bible together. As moms themselves, the team recognises that navigating both the joys and the many tough moments, which at times can be completely overwhelming, meeting together regularly to study the Bible, is often a midweek oasis and huge encouragement.

Mammas & Munchkins Midweek meet on Tuesdays in term time from 10am - 11.30am

St James Children’s Centre - Room 1

It's open to all moms. Each week there is a team to look after your little ones in First Steps. (Room next door) INFO: Laura 074 345 2517 / Jessica 083 954 4253

Opportunities to serve

The more we serve the more we grow!

The Gospel changes people’s hearts and creates a radical new identity. This identity frees us from self-absorption and leads us to accept and serve people we once excluded. God’s grace moves us to serve others, irrespective of their merits, just as Christ served us irrespective of ours. Therefore, we endeavor to sacrificially serve our neighbours in our community, as well as our brothers and sisters, out of grateful joy and love for the glory of God.

Below are two opportunities to serve on Sundays:

The Coffee Shop

The Coffee Shop has space for 8 more to join their dynamic, friendly and committed team to do ONE shift per month.

3 people to serve cakes from : 9am – 10 am

5 people to serve cakes from : 11.15am till about noon

Need to be friendly and welcoming.

After Service Teas

As we grow as a church, we need to add to our current teams, who prepare and serve tea/coffee after Sunday services and for occasional events. We also have a specific team for funerals which take place during the week.

If you would like further information or who like to join a team, please contact Jean Machill at the Church Office during the week on Tel. 021 671 7070 or email
