St James Child Protection Policy

Getting ready for the new year is exciting.  At St. James Kids’ and Youth Ministries we are stepping up our game when it comes to keeping our kids safe and keeping everyone connected to what is happening.  As a result, we are doing things a bit differently this year.

At the beginning of the year, we are focusing on getting accurate information about our families. The good news is that you can register all your children at once, and once you are done, you are done!  i.e.  if you register on a Friday you don’t have to do it again on Sunday!

*Remember*

According to the law, a child is anyone under the age of 18, so these steps apply to both primary and high school aged children.

Easy Steps to our New Registration Process:

Step 1:  Make sure that you are early (at least 20 minutes before you usually arrive.

Step 2:   Fill in and sign an Arrival & Collection Policy Agreement and Image Release Form.  This will inform us whether we can take photos of your child, as well as that you have understood our sign in and collection procedure.

Step 3:   Take your form to the Online Information Station.  Here you will update your information online.  Once you have done this you will receive a token.

Step 4:   0 years to Grade 3:  You will take your child and their token to their relevant rooms and hand it to the helper there.  This will show them that you have completed steps 2 & 3. Please note that for Grades 4 to 12 - Your child will take the token to their room and hand it in.  This will show the leaders that you have completed steps 2 to 3.

Signing IN and OUT

Step 5:  0 years to Grade 3 – SIGN YOUR CHILD IN

Parents/ guardians will be required to sign their children in and out of Children’s Church / J-Zone.  This is to keep everyone safe and to ensure that your children go home with the correct people. If someone other than the person signing the child in is to collect them, you are to fill that in on the “sign in” sheet. If you nominate an elder sibling or another adult, then we need to know.  We will not hand over a child to anyone other than the person indicated on the sheet.

AMPED (Friday evening Kids’ Club)

Children attending Amped (Grades 4 – 7) will need to be collected from Room 2 by an adult. If someone other than a parent is collecting the child, then the leader of the group needs to be informed on arrival.
