Women 2 Women – Ministry to women at St James

One of the great blessings we’ve enjoyed over the years here at St. James has been that of a strong women’s ministry.  This still continues today in the life of our church.  Our goals within our women’s ministry are to see women come to know the Lord Jesus, to be firmly established in the truth and to grow into mature disciples of Jesus.

Women meet weekly at Coffee Morning to pray, encourage one another in word and song, and to study the Bible together (Tuesdays from 10-11:30am in the DG Mills Hall).  A Bible study for mums with little ones runs concurrently with Coffee Morning on Tuesdays (10:30-11:30am in the Children’s Centre).   There is also an evening Bible study for women, which meets on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30pm in Room 1 of the Children’s Centre (but starting up again in Term 3 when Alison is back).  These are great times of digging deeper into God’s Word, building friendships within our Church family and spurring one another on towards godliness.  We’d love to encourage you – if you are a woman in our Church who is not yet plugged into a home group, CSG group or other Bible study group – to come and join us at one of these women’s studies!

There are also many women who are meeting together to read God’s Word and encourage one another to live for Jesus.  It is wonderful to hear how these one-to-one relationships are bearing fruit in the lives of our women – some, who through these one-to-one study times, have gone on to be part of an Explore group.  Why not consider reading the Bible together with another sister in Christ, this term?  There are many great resources to get you started, and these are available upstairs in the bookshop.

On the 9th of June, we will be hosting the Reach Women Conference. Our guest speaker this year is Jenny Salt, who is Dean of Women at Sydney Missionary and Bible College.  Jenny is a gifted and faithful Bible teacher, and she will be taking us through the book of Ruth.  We will also have an opportunity to hear from other women about how they came to know Jesus, and about what women are doing for the Gospel in our communities.  Come and join with women from around the Western Cape for a day of excellent Bible teaching and fellowship.

Tickets are R150 which includes morning tea and lunch.  You can register and purchase your ticket in the foyer after services on Sundays, or online at  (Please note that registration for this event closes on Sunday, 3 June).  We hope to see you there, and don’t forget to bring a friend!
